Experiencing the PhD journey in management

The personal and subjective experience of the PhD journey remains underexplored. The PhD experience is still a "black box" difficult to open and decipher for neophytes. How is a thesis constructed in practice? How do PhD students articulate their contradictory demands? To answer this question, we have relied on the narratives of colleagues, fellow PhD students for less than five years, allowing us to make room for their experience, to question recent institutional evolutions, regarding the expectations linked to the thesis and the job market. In short, as editors, we have thought of this book as showing the thesis as it is done, rather than as it should be done.
